::: travellab's zero lab

zero_lab is a travellab project primarily aiming to elaborate computing culture within non-elite social spaces, designed as open source interface to new technologies. Over a period of time developments could be made accessible over the Internet.

> some contextual areas of development collaboration:

I Network based collaborative tools - this covers tools that are very easy to use and also fun to play around with. Tools that make it possible for different users within the network to work together and create content of image, text and sound.

II Programming tools for beginners - for people of any age who have no or marginal experience with computer cultures. The aim is to make programming a point of conversation among many people who otherwise would not enter. Both CDs and manuals will be published according to the workshops held to develop these tools.

III Games reflecting our conditions and environments - These could be simple games for involvement in development. In example let us say: crossing the streets, helping to comment on the experience of being a pedestrian in thecity. That could later develop into serious games involving complex movement within the city.

IV Data base Interface - for the visualization of the internal schema of an image-sound-text allowing easy navigation.

> the procedure:

zero_lab project spaces will be opened to the developers to host intensive workshops. Design and development plans for projects are scheduled by the collaborators. zero_lab is committed to cover material and accommodation costs as well as paying out a refunding to the project participants.

A goal is to create collaborative approaches and venues that will facilitate design and content for a solidary computing culture, speaking to a wider audience by creating social software (in absence of a better term).

Tools generated in the zero_lab will be will be put under a share-licence. zero_lab would be very keen to support long term development plans for each of these software.
