::: shared resource development

> work flow

> notes on shared resource development and memorandum of agreement

Some of the work flow at travellab is hosted in a (mobile) studio setting, where work on building prototypes, developing models and conducting user tests can be done.

Targeted towards construction of experimental public spaces for socio-cultural expedition and site-specific performances, installations and collaborative arenas, such as labs, festivals, workshops and forums.

This type of development relies on 'professional' staffing/stuffing. The technical development work for a production is not research alone but adaptation of technologies used to express concepts. Technological research and development is done in co-operation with networking-partner domains of travellab.net. Particular co-operation will be based on a standard agreement concerned about the evaluation of a 'shared resource development', that will be guided by a board of associate ethical conductors and shall lead to a modular compatibility to different kinds of local socio-topologies.

Questions, problems, conceptual debates that cannot be dealt with in the context or calendar of a professional production are guiding the research projects, while the results of particular research projects are in turn made available to the developing production teams and co-partners based on a memorandum of understanding. This resonance shall allow different types of work flow to gain from the other without the rigid interdependencies at a single host.

travellab work encompasses three temporal layers of research and development

> middle term research (+ years)

I This layer of travellab activities is focused on slow, but more profound changes. One such research topic encompasses the decrease of global bio diversity, where ethical and innovative answers often stand on opposing sides, and where innovative thinking is critical. These activities will involve both research and development, and will examine/explore lasting effects for future societies (hybrid reality, responsive media, networked collaboration, generative systems).

> yearly thematic projects (3 themes each year)

II In the beginning of every phase, a document will be produced which will assess the most relevant questions, topics, changes or technologies that can have a strong effect on society and culture in the following periods. Based on this forecasting, travellab will formulate three fairly broad topics of interest and will select projects that will give a substantial contribution to the understanding/innovation of societies demands.

> short term experiments, prototyping and theoretical reflections (1-3 months)

III The layer with the most flexibility, engaged in a broad range of topics and applications are short term experiments, prototyping and theoretical reflections (1-3 months) Projects that discuss or react to a 'burning' issue, short workshops, co-authoring of papers and articles, public activities, small models, prototypes or brainstorming sessions for larger projects.
